Starting October 10, we’ll be accepting submissions for our Write Place 2012 Book Contest! Yes, you can submit poetry. Yes, you can submit children’s book. Novels, memoirs, short story collections…we’ll consider it all. So whether you have a mostly-completed manuscript that just needs a few finishing touches, or you need to dust off that novel that’s been sitting in your bottom drawer for three years and needs a major re-write, or you’ll be starting from scratch, it’s time to get writing.
And with that exciting prospect in mind, I offer you these words of wisdom from Madeleine L’Engle (author of A Wrinkle in Time, one of my childhood favorites): “Inspiration usually comes during work, not before it.”
And in case that’s not enough, here’s another from Ann Patchett: “I made a startling discovery. Time spent writing = output of work. Amazing.”
Amazing indeed. Happy writing!
Stay tuned for entry forms and other details. In the meantime, check out the press release.
